Mentoring Philosophy
I am a firm believer in the power of a dedicated mentor to bring the best out of a student more than a regiment of homogenized courses ever could. I am grateful to have had a handful of fantastic mentors myself who have dedicated uncommon amounts of their time to encouraging my dreams and training my capabilities and I am deeply indebted to them for where I am today, including the late Dr. Charles Doering who owns the lion’s share of credit for my pursuit of research today.
Students
Most of my student’s join the lab from the Undergraduate Opportunity in Computing (UROC) program offered by the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University.

My current student’s work with me on the Multiplex Reconstruction and Inference for Spring and Summer 2023.
AJ Slowey
- Biography:
AJ Slowey is a junior at Indiana University studying Informatics with a cognate in Molecular Biology. She is interested in expanding her knowledge in biological network systems, drug-protein interactions, as well as her technical coding skills. In her free time, she enjoys singing for a local grunge band as well as crocheting hats for her friends. AJ joined the lab in Summer of 2022.

JT Underhill
- Biography:
JT Underhill is a sophomore Data Science student excited to get more practical experience coding. Outside of school he enjoys following Indiana University sports and is a cyclist for 3PH Cycling in the Little 500. JT joined the lab in Fall of 2021 as part of the UROC program.
